Prima
In 1972, a math teacher took to the streets of Rome with feminists, holding a sign declaring her homosexuality. Her name was Maria Silvia Spolato, and she was the first woman to come out publicly in an Italian square. Following that gesture, she lost her job and her home and disappeared into thin air for almost 30 years, living on the streets and finding refuge, at the end of her life, in Bolzano.
