Danya comes from the provinces to Moscow. He dreams of conquering the capital and becoming a popular stand-up comedian. The young man has nothing at heart but ambitions, but he needs to live somewhere now, and he rents a room from Vyacheslav Sokolov, a grumpy old man offended by life. And although the relationship between Danya and Vyacheslav cannot be called rosy, they, as it turns out, have more in common than one might assume. By a strange coincidence, Sokolov was a popular Soviet satirist in the past.
