Chief inspector and author Jakob Stiller (Ulrich Noethen) is considered by his old colleagues from the LKA in Hamburg because of his unflattering first novel as a "nest polluter" - and was therefore deported. Now he is serving as district manager in the Dahlow office in Wendland.
