The plot unfolds between the different worlds of two physically identical men. The millionaire Paulo Della Santa is a tormented individual, with a family and business in crisis. His wife Laura, a self-seeking woman, struggles to keep her marriage, despite the crowd against her stepchildren, Marília and Pedro Ernesto, who detest her. Already the businessman Denizard de Matos, owner of a junkyard, is a simple figure, of the people. Widowed, father of the teenager Zezinha, he is dating the exuberant India of Brazil, her secretary, against her daughter's wishes. A chance meeting between the lookalikes, followed by an explosion, kicks off the story.
