Deserts on the rise

Desert areas are expanding worldwide due to climate change and increasing water consumption. But in no other country is the dehydration taking place as rapidly as in China. Various regions have already become uninhabitable. The planting of trees and the creation of extensive green spaces is intended to counteract the progressive desertification and desertification of large parts of China. Desert areas are not only expanding in Africa and Asia. Southern Europe is also in danger of drying out. Spain, for example, is massively affected. The Iberian Peninsula serves as an acute example of an ecosystem that has already been irreparably damaged by excessive agriculture, increasing water use and increasing soil erosion.
