Langs de Maas

Huub Stapel Europe's most surprising river: the Maas. During his journey, he shows the Meuse in all its facets: from history to nature, economy, local color and culture. Langs de Maas can be seen weekly from Friday 26 November at 7:50 pm on NPO 2. Huub Stapel was born in Tegelen, Limburg. As a child, he swam a lot in the Meuse, or 'grabbed a boat', clinging to a passing boat and then being dragged through the water for miles. The Meuse is a very influential river: France, Belgium and the Netherlands owe their current shape to it. What did the river witness? And what history does she carry with her? In Langs de Maas, Huub is looking for answers to these questions. He tells historical and amazing stories and meets people who, just like him, have the Maas water flowing through their blood.
