Environment in East Germany

The environmental sins committed in the past occupy the new federal states to this day. The floors are groaning under the contamination of the infamous chemical triangle. In Lusatia, the old opencast mines are still working and in the forests one is not only fighting against climate change, but also with the effects of socialist forestry. Can a green turnaround succeed with this difficult legacy?
