Those Thirty-six Steps
The story is set in a building where the stories of its tenants intertwine: the porter Pietro secretly in love with a mature but still attractive separated woman, a swindler seducer, a French lawyer who plays the mandolin of night, and other characters with their stories of betrayals, escapes, births, deaths, joys and sorrows.
