Looking for Gatt

At a miners' festival in the Halle district, journalist Eberhard Gatt is caught up with his past when he meets his ex-wife Ruth there. The two had met in 1948 at an evening journalism course after Gatt published a successful newspaper article as a miner against sliders and speculators. The two married three years later. His supposed political duty was more important to the energetic husband, and so the two separated again. About 20 years after their first meeting, Gatt now feels pressured to have to give an account of his actions at the festival.
