Criminal Judges

Criminal Judges

Gilles De Coster once again dives into the wings of crime and justice and this time appears in court. For eight criminal judges, more precisely. For four weeks they sit down to talk about life and work. They hold a unique, decisive position of power within the judiciary. They judge sovereignly and impartially on guilt, innocence and punishment. With their verdict, from acquittal to life imprisonment, they have an immense impact on the lives of defendants, victims and relatives - and by extension on our society. They regularly hear that they are “too mild”, or “unworldly”. Or that they tend towards “class justice”. But their strict secrecy keeps them from defending themselves. Now they do speak. The criminal judges testify candidly about their profession, their mission and their view of man.
