Media Magica

Werner Nekes was a German experimental film director, and a collector of historical optical objects. His interest in pre-cinematographic visual effects prompted him to assemble an extensive collection of optical artifacts. In Media Magica, Nekes uses objects from his collection to illustrate the long history of the various optical illusions and moving pictures that eventually gave birth to modern cinematography.
