The Roast Of... (NL)

A roast is an event where someone is ironically insulted and/or honored. True and made-up stories about that person are also told. The aim is for the roastee, the person being roasted, not to see the jokes as a serious attack or insult, but to show his or her good side and let it come to him. Often a comment is made about the other roasters before it is the turn of the roastee. The phenomenon is popular when politicians or business leaders are honored. In this way, their opponents also get the chance to laugh out loud at their leaders.
