The Great Rift

Visible from space, the African Rift Valley is more than 6,000 kilometers long and stretches from the Jordan Valley over the Red Sea, the highlands of Ethiopia and East Africa to Mozambique. For this three-part documentary, originally aired on Animal Planet, Harald Pokieser (writer and director) has teamed up with famous wildlife filmmakers to create an impressive portrait of this land, created 35 million years ago by the collision of the mighty African plate with Europe.
