The Way We Were (2018)

When you have money, prestige and the opportunity to study at the best colleges in the United States, the world is your feet. Xiao Qing (Tiffany Tang), Shu Che (Luo Jin), Ning Ming (Yu Ji Wei) and Miao Ying (Xu Ling Yue) are elite Chinese college students whose family wealth allow them to study at some of the best universities in the United States. Shu Che and Miao Ying used to be a couple, but they were forced apart by Shu Che’s father, a public official, who wanted a politically beneficial pairing for his son. When Shu Che meets Xiao Qing, he is drawn her to independence and her determination to make it on her own without her family connections. The two fall in love but face a tremendous challenge. Xiao Qing’s father, a righteous prosecutor, goes after Shu Che’s father for corruption, and the young couple becomes embroiled in the scandal. When their loyalties are put to the test, can Xiao Qing and Shu Che make the right decisions and still save their relationship? “The Way We Were” is a 2018 Chinese drama series directed by Liu Jiang.
