O Primo Basílio

The story takes place in 19th century Lisbon. Young Basilio (Marcos Paulo) has just arrived from England and has eyes only for Luísa (Giulia Gam), his beautiful and sweet cousin. The two have been in love since childhood, and when he returns, that passion becomes uncontrollable. Basílio is obliged to travel to Brazil on business and before leaving, however, he promises to marry Luísa when he returns to Portugal. During those months in that distant country, Basílio writes to Luísa with some assiduity, but, as time goes by, he stops sending any news, until he ends up writing to end everything between them, because he didn't want to make her suffer for his absence. , and that she could be happy, as he will be slow to return.
