La Petite Patrie

The Germain family lived in the Villeray district of Montreal in the 1940s. The father, Edmond, was a restaurateur. Around him are his wife Gertrude and their four children: Lucie, Murielle, Marie-Paule and Clément. It is an ordinary family, modest and needy, where we love and bicker on occasion, a family where money is scarce but where we live without worrying about it.
