Porto dos Milagres
Félix Guerrero sells illegally land that his father inherited for Bartolomeu his identical twin brother. Unmasked by the police, Félix flees with his wife Adma. Félix and Adma live for years in Europe until a gypsy predicts that by crossing the sea, Félix becomes a king. When returned to Brazil Adma discovered that Bartolomeu had become a powerful businessman in the small coastal town of Porto dos Milagres. Adma, without her husband knowing, kills Bartolomeu and calls Félix to run his dead brother's business. However, Bartolomeu was involved with prostitute Arlete, that is expecting a child from him. Adma orders Eriberto to get rid of Arlete and the newborn. But Arlete puts the boy in a basket, deliverering him to the sea queen Iemanjá and kills herself drowning soon after jumping into the sea. Guided by Iemanjá, the basket is carried by the waves to the boat of fisherman Frederico.
