19-year-old Tasya lives with her mother in a small provincial town. Five years ago, Tasi's father died, mother, Irina, a 40-year-old, pretty woman, trying to regain a reliable male shoulder, got along with Oleg. Despite his unwillingness to become a father, Irina gave birth to Vanechka. Vanya turns six months on the day Oleg leaves Irina. She is admitted to the hospital with a heart attack. All worries about little Vanechka fall on the fragile shoulders of young Tasya. A law student, Tasya is transferred to the evening department and, after some comic and sometimes dramatic twists and turns, gets a job as an assistant to the bailiff. This is how Tasya begins his acquaintance with real life.
