Siege of Leningrad

Siege of Leningrad

The siege of Leningrad by the German Wehrmacht lasted from September 8, 1941 to January 27, 1944. The city remained enclosed by the Germans for 872 days. Despair, hunger and cannibalism are the result. Only when aid deliveries reached the city via Lake Ladoga did the situation relax in the spring of 1942, but contrary to the assurances of Soviet propaganda it was still not possible to feed everyone in Leningrad.
