Rike Horak, lay judge at the Lübeck district court, is a woman of action. Initially appointed to this position against her will, Rike quickly takes a liking to it. She develops a great passion in the fight against crime and for justice. Rike, attractive and above all headstrong, is in permanent clinic with public prosecutor Dr. Schaller and the presiding judge Dr. Cooks for whom the rebellious and unruly magistrate is just a nuisance. She is all too happy to ask uncomfortable questions and investigate on her own apart from negotiations. In addition to her turbulent lay jury, Rike is kept busy by her eight-year-old son Max and her fourteen-year-old daughter Nina.
