Trolls, Fjords and a Mail Boat
The ships are a legend. You drive to the end of the world, tirelessly. Every day they are on the move and connect the small and large towns on the never-ending coast of Norway, far beyond the Arctic Circle. It made the unimaginably torn coastal strip safe and accessible in all seasons - both in the polar winter and at the time of the midnight sun. It used to be a sensation, and today it is still a maritime achievement. We are talking about the Hurtigruten ships, which have been cruising the far north with determined regularity since 1893, initially primarily loaded with mail bags and today with tourists yearning for nature who have been spellbound by the inimitable harsh magic of the country.
