The Young Man and the Lion

It opens in the year 773, when the future emperor completes the first campaign against the Saxons, and lasts until Roland's death at Roncesvalles in 778. It presents some notable episodes of his reign, in particular his desire to establish a great Christian kingdom , but also more personal elements, such as his admiration for knowledge and his secret learning to write, helped by his nephew.
